These Terms and Conditions form a client agreement between you (the client) and The Empowered Mama, ABN 87911672528, also referred to as Sahara Norton, Sahara, the Lactation Consultant, or we/us.
By making a booking with The Empowered Mama, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and the associated fee schedule.
1. Services Provided
The Empowered Mama provides:
• Antenatal and postnatal lactation/breastfeeding support
• Birth debriefs
• Birth preparation chats
• TENS unit hire
• Breast pump hire
• Sales of selected products (e.g. Qiara probiotics, expressing kits)
All bookings and purchases are arranged via direct contact — we do not currently operate an e-commerce store.
2. Fees
Payment is required in advance for all consultations, hires, and product purchases unless otherwise arranged.
For bookings made more than 24 hours in advance, payment is due within 24 hours of booking.
For bookings made with less than 24 hours’ notice, payment is due immediately.
Unpaid invoices may result in cancellation of your booking or delay in service delivery.
3. Consultation Policy
Cancellations
If you cancel:
• More than 24 hours in advance: a full refund will be issued
• Less than 24 hours in advance: full payment is required
If a suitable rebooking time is not available, a full refund will be offered.
If you cancel:
• More than 24 hours in advance: deposit is refunded
• Less than 24 hours in advance: deposit is forfeited and full payment is required
• Within 24 hours of your booking: full payment is required at time of booking
If a suitable rebooking time is not available, a full refund will be issued.
No Show Policy
A “No Show” is when the Lactation Consultant arrives at your booked location (or is ready online) and you are not present within 15 minutes of the appointment time. If this occurs:
• You will be charged a $75 no-show fee
• The remainder of your booking fee will be refunded
4. Follow-up and Ongoing Support
All initial consultations include:
• A follow-up email with your personalised care plan
• Any relevant resources discussed during the session
• 1–2 follow-up emails within the first week, as needed
If further ongoing lactation support is required, a follow-up appointment will need to be booked. This applies to lactation consults and birth debriefs alike. We do our best to respond to emails and messages within 24 hours.
5. Hire Equipment (TENS & Breast Pump)
• A security deposit may be required for hires
• Equipment must be returned on time and in good condition
• Clients are responsible for any loss or damage during the hire period
• Late returns may incur additional fees
6. Health Disclaimer
Services are provided within the scope of midwifery and lactation practice and are intended to support your health and wellbeing. If your needs fall outside this scope, you may be referred to an appropriate medical or allied health professional.
7. Liability
We are not liable for any indirect or incidental damages resulting from use of our services or products. Liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by Australian law.
8. Changes to Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website.
