Birth DEBRIEFING

What is A Birth Debrief?

Did your birth leave you feeling disempowered? Were your needs not properly met?

You are not alone, 1:3 women have experienced some form of birth related trauma.

A birth debrief is a chance for you to have your story heard, and your feelings around it validated.

It is also a chance for you to be given the space and tools to move through any birth related trauma you may have.

What happens during a Birth Debrief?

In this one-on-one session we will

  • Move through any feelings or confusion you may have from your birth experience.
  • A chance to be heard and held, with no judgement.
  • This may be alone or with your birthing partner, whatever is needed for you.
  • Through my experience and medical knowledge as a midwife, I will answer any unanswered questions you may have about your birth.
  • Whether you experienced physical or emotional trauma, I hold space for you to tell your story and be heard.
  • I will guide you through any birth related trauma you may have and help to rebuild your confidence. I have developed the skills to do this through a comprehensive mentorship, with Motheration (with the incredible Lael Stone & B, from Core and Floor Restore).
  • We can also cover birth planning for your next birth if we have time in the session, or follow up with it if required.

When should I do A Birth Debrief?

This is a completely personal choice and there is no right or wrong time.

Many people feel they have a lot of suppressed feelings and emotions come back in their subsequent pregnancy and need to work through them before their next birth.

Some are keen to discuss their birth experience quite soon after the experience and want their questions answered to better understand what happened.

Everyone deals with their trauma in different ways so it is completely up to you when you feel ready to talk, acknowledge, process and work through any feelings.

Does a birth have to be traumatic for me to book a debrief?

Absolutely not! Some people just want their story heard and to be given the space to feel all those feelings again.

Anyone can book a debrief, even if it was a positive experience and you just need the right person to hold space for you.

It may be birth related, it may be breastfeeding related or it may have happened in the postnatal period.

How much does a debrief cost?

$175 investment for 90 minutes

Virtual consult.

This can be spent debriefing, birth planning or both.
